It is currently comprised of 16 Teams...

Came into being in 1993 from hospices of Lesotho Sports Council, after independence by LEFA from LSC, which then was comprised of top 12 teams

Top Four

· Played by top 4 teams in the league, play a 3 day tournament on a roundrobin basis. The tournament is Also sponsored by Econet thru the buddie product

Imperial Top 8

· Played by top 8 clubs at the end of the league.

· They play each other on a knockout basis, and have 4 remaining.

· The four play a 3 day tournament on a round robin basis.

Current competitions is the League sponsored by ECONET Ezi-Cel (Buddie Premier Leaugue), running from August to May the following year

 

Teams play each other on a home and away basis. The defending champion in Likhopo (Maseru Based)

 

The winner of the league represents Lesotho in the Confederation of African Football Champions Tournament (CAF).
